I urge all within the sound of my voice to check out the “Greetings From L.A.” now remastered CD originally recorded in 1971. It is proof positive that the genious seed did not fall too far from the tree.

Dan was the best friend of one of my dearest friends. I’ve heard amazing stories about him and have his books. I even have one of his original photo on my wall (and I hope my friend never claims it back, I will cry, beg and plead). Apparently Daniel Radcliffe won the role . . .

I can accept James Franco though, for some reason. Oh Jeff, how I love thee.

When I hear him sing the hallelujah song, it’s the closest I get to a religious experience. Except for sex, of course. (and Leonard Cohen is playing in the other room as I type this!)

Heidi – I wish you could write a book about him. You are definitely the one to write the definitive biography. xo

But Robert Patinson? That’s just an insult. Just ‘cos he’s some hot young flavor of the month… Grrr that makes me mad!!! I love Jeff Buckley, and actually had the pleasure of spending about 15 minutes completely alone with him backstage, back when I had a ‘zine. We made plans for me to interview him, and he wrote down his publicist’s # for me (I still have it), but of course he died before I ever got the nerve to call. He was extremely kind and gracious and beautiful when he didn’t have to be. Sadly, I’d had about 5 margaritas in an hour or less trying to screw up the courage to approach him in the first place. Then by the time he played, I missed about 1/3 of his show because I had to go outside to sit down and rest my head. But I thought I’d see him again! Who knew he was going to die! That someone would be idiot enough to go swimming in the Mississippi River! I live in New Orleans, and I see that beast on a regular basis. I know Memphis is a few hours upstream, but it’s still huge and scary there too!

I’m sorry! I have very personal feelings about Jeff Buckley! Yes, he IS a tear that hangs inside my heart forever. If I was his mom, I think I’d be as obsessive and clingy as she is. It’s a wonder she’s managed to continue living, actually. As raw and beautiful and real as he was, and that he was her son? I’m on the verge of tears just imagining it!

I learn new things and investigate to learn more. I had no idea Buckley covered Cohen’s Hallelujah (sp?). Cohen is one of my favorites and I love this song. Thanks Sister.

My food deprived, booze deprived, hormonal body is having an emotional reaction after watching that video. I love music that has a story to tell…
