I don’t feel sorry for her. As noted, she’s not a poor woman who can’t leave her husband because there’s nowhere to go.

I suppose it's theoretically possible that an illegal immigrant from Slovenia who washed up into the lower ends of the modeling industry in Manhattan in those days wasn't at least collaterally involved in sex work - you know, the occasional out-call for a discreet agency of the sort that used to advertise in the back of the International Herald Tribune or a few rungs down. I'm not saying it's likely, but it could happen. In a world in which that can be elected president of the United States, what isn't?
