nuns make me slightly uncomfortable. i don’t know why. however, i like the idea of all that garb, the layers of fabric on the body, in wonderful black. i like the monk look a bit better though. there’s something fascinating about robes with hoods – now that, i can truly embrace.

I have noticed that Nuns, in vintage memorabilia often come in threes. I love a Nun and dressing like one is good too!!

What is the point of a nun?
I think they’re just running away from the world … the cloistered ones that is.
They should stick around and face the music, like the rest of us.

Kate– That description is lovely, and it’s exactly why I always felt that I had a nun in me (except i like boys and drugs as well).
When i was a kid, I used think I had a “calling.” But four years in a convent burst that bubble– the nuns in my school were a bunch of angry, twisted bitches. However, they did not wear habits and were relatively free to do whatever they liked. I think the only way to really do nunhood properly is to go all the way– habits, black shoes, enclosure, and a pledge to contemplate the deepness of things, full-time.
(I might yet go for it one day, esp now that the drugs are gone and the sex is also dwindling.)

i never had a thing for nuns, but my favorite nuns are the french nuns who lead two straight lines of little school girls in ‘madeline’.
i once saw a nun. (i’ve seen a few nuns, but-) on the street. she was covered up completely except for her face, which truly looked like it had never seen the light of day. she was the whitest/most transparent person i’d ever seen, minus an albino man on the subway. her eyes were really wide open, like she didn’t trust being outside the church in a bazaar. her image is burned into my memory.
