I knew immediately that Jean-Paul Gaultier‘s spring 2012 couture collection was a tribute to Amy because I did the math. Behive + eyeliner+”Marilyn” stud = Amy Winehouse.

What a wonderful feast of crazy hives and mish-mash of retro vampy girly excess!

It makes me happy to know that Amy’s influence will live on. Her swagger and her vulnerability, her beautiful voice, her tiny little body supporting all that hair…she will haunt me forever. This collection is an  homage that’s right on point, as Amy liked to say of her beehive.

Lindsey Wixson is especially adorable in her purple hive and I can’t get  enough  of her.

Also, did everyone see the new Karl Lagerfeld stuff at net-a porter this morning?   Horrible, right? What is he thinking?!   Please let me know if any other runway shows are worth looking at. Right now, I only have eyes for Amy.

I’ve never stopped loving Levi’s, same as disneyrollergirl and my friend Mark (who has curated 60 pairs.) Levi’s has always been around, making high quality jeans that almost anyone can afford.   Once in a while they collaborate with big names like Comme des Garcons, House of Holland, and Andy Warhol.

Their new collaboration with Gaultier proves that you CAN wear denim with denim, since these two pieces can be purchased separately but look perfect together.

I’m not too sure what’s going on with these harem pants but clearly they would obscure one’s flat asymmetrical ass with all that fabric.

I would hoard wear these things if only I had some money. Later on I’d probably have to sell them on eBay but I’d still love to get my hands on them.

An amusing bracelet and ring by Jean Mahie. The 18k yellow gold bracelet and ring with French hallmarks and makers mark for Jean Mahie. The link bracelet made up of stylized “male parts” the ring a bent figure. Mahies work is often subtly erotic in nature. This is a great set- almost an inside joke for the wearer. The piece has a wonderful mellow patina. Very fun and wearable. Price: $4,200

I agree that it’s amusing, but “an inside joke for the wearer?” I guess if you didn’t like penises and you were wearing it, that would be a little joke with yourself. Personally, I love this set and the price is just right.
