You’ve identified the love between two men, but who says they want to get jiggy with each other? The former does not necessarily lead to the latter.

Interesting. I think Elena’s twist on your idea explains the vast majority of what people would consider “exceptions.” I started thinking about the movies I’ve seen recently, one of which was Run Lola Run, which you’d think would be an exception. No man-loving-man action here. Except that really it’s about how Manni is the most important thing in the world, and Lola working her tail off three times to make sure it continues to be that way.

the only problem i have with this idea is that most of the men i know are already completely in love with themselves, and convinced we both should be. i suppose the reason why conflict is so common to these fixations is because there is always a struggle between these guys to be the center of attention.
