There’s nothing wrong with reinvention, in fact, I don’t want to be the same forever. But, the idea of reemergence, resurrection whatever is offensive. I’m the same, I do appreciate the few friends I have now that we can get together again, but as far as the whole getting out and living thing goes, come on. If I was a grouch prepandemic guess what?

Apparently no one’s current version of themselves if acceptable. Get f@#%& Oprah. How’s that?

There’s barely any me left. What is left now knows how to worry more efficiently, be more meaningfully depressed, increase portion sizes with abandon, ignore floor dirt and dust – most dirt, in fact – and allow important matters to fester, neglected and totally ignored. I don’t think this is what the article writers had in mind. Tough shit. I was pretty bad off before the pandemic, so what should I expect? Whenever this one burns itself out and we’re down to covid shots once a year, like flu, I think I’ll still have all these new skills so I’ll be ready for the next one. Or maybe I’ll be dead as hell. Does that count as a post-pandemic me?

This just in as well in the realm of unnecessary, puzzling thinkpieces: the concept of revenge shopping. Why stop there? Revenge everything. Revenge breakfast, revenge dog-walking… the possibilities are endless!

You seem pretty great to me.

Miranda – Aww, thank you! It’s because you haven’t met me!

I don’t care about going out and I love my solitude. I guess that makes me weird. I was always weird, though. But pre-pandemic i forced myself out. Now that I have an excuse, it’s created a feeling that I’m ok after all.
