We had a haughty old biddy in our neighborhood growing up that thought she was better than everyone else. We have so many Mrs Hancock stories that we could write a book.

20 years pass and they were shutting down the elementary school that we went to. There was a big reunion party for all the ex-students and families. We went to the potluck. I got stuck talking to the evil old Mrs Hancock because no one else would. At one point, she said, “See that beautiful dish with the candies in it? I brought that. I’m surprised your mother hasn’t walked off with it yet.”

I was stunned speechless. My mom does not steal. Or covet. My mom is a SAINT!!

But you know, her daughters aren’t. Yes, we stole that damn bowl. And we ate the candies, laughing all the way home.
