Here is Vanessa Traina, an It Girl I’ve only just discovered thanks to a magazine editorial on her grotesque and pretentious crib, which features a large quantity of fur and a stuffed zebra. I was going to devote a full rant to the tragic awfulness of this person (whose mom is Louboutin-hoarder and hack writer Danielle Steele) until I came upon a video of her at a party with It Girl Jen Brill.

They are living big lives, with all that fur! Their combined shoe collections could probably buy the Taj Mahal if turned back into money, but they take their work as Chanel ambassadors very seriously.

Should we hate them, love them, or pity them?

Let me put it another way: Ms. Brill has had to submit to boyfriend Terry Richardson‘s everpresent gargantuan appendage in order to cement her status. Ms. Traina has had to endure the shame of her mother’s celebrated shopping mania, publicity seeking and poor grammar, along with who knows what else.

Share a couple of minutes with these Style Icons here! Go on, it’s worth it. My favorite part is the way Vanessa pronounces “Balmain.” (I’m saying it right now in my head.) Then look at your own shabby shoe collection and give thanks.

P.S. If I wanted to be mean, I’d say that Vanessa looks like a horse and Jen’s legs are chunky, but as a newly minted feminist, I don’t engage in Body Shaming.

I started reading Jezebel.com when they reported on Terry Richardson‘s bad behavior, earlier this year. I was really impressed by the muck-raking spirit of the writer, who followed the story with several updates.

One was about how awesome Tavi was to openly condemn Richardson on her blog. I wrote to the author to whine that I had blogged about Richardson weeks before Tavi did, but she graciously ignored me.

I wanted to at least get in on the comment action, so I typed into the comment box, innocently thinking that mere mortals could state their opinions. But no, far from it! I’ve been meaning to share this discovery for ages, so here, let Jezebel explain it to you in their own words:

How do I get approved to comment?

We only approve the comments we love–so make sure you’re adding something of quality to the post. Stay on-topic and seek to further the conversation. Leave us a juicy story on the #tips page or throw your hat into the ring of our open forums.

If we approve your comment, your username and password will be activated and you’ll be able to login and comment freely from then on (or at least until you get banned).

Do you have any tips for auditioning?

Leaving multiple high-quality comments on different threads with your newly created account increases your chances of getting approved.

Show your stuff–make your audition a worthy addition. “Firsts!”, “yays” and “nays” will be summarily ignored. See Lifehacker’s Guide To Weblog Comments for suggestions on how to begin.

We value intelligent contributions, respect for community etiquette, good grammar, and not feeding the trolls. Proper use of punctuation, capitalization and time taken in typing will earn you extra points. Ignoring any of the above will subtract considerably.

Whoa! Life is too short to spend time auditioning to comment at Jezebel, don’t you think?

Have you noticed lately that there’s no escape from boobs? Every other fashion editorial sneaks in a model’s boob, if not complete nudity. Is this the Terry Richardsonization of fashion photography, or just the continuing of The End Of Innocence brought about by the internet?

I like to see beautiful nudes, but sometimes I’m just not in the mood. Sometimes, I just want to see the clothes, or the make-up, or the photography in a fashion layout. I want to have a choice about seeing boobs.

I was saddened by a photo at Susie’s blog, showing an older gray-haired model who still had to show her boob. I guess this was a win for feminism or agism. For me, it was a reminder that boobs have become de rigueur in fashion. Everyone must be willing to expose their boobs.

I’ve probably posted photos with boobs in them but from now on, this will be a boob-free zone, unless the subject is specifically boobs.

A beautiful way to not see boobs is the handmade silver pasties above, by Leah Ball, who just got funding for her Pasties Project. Yay for Leah!

Welcome aboard the Terry Richardson Hoopla Machine! Better late than never. May I quote your blog from yesterday?

“I know this won’t do anything. I kind of thought that the Not Okay stuff would end after all that hoopla but not really, apparently! And my writing this won’t change anything, and it probably does not make me look really good, and I can already see the comments reading “You feminists are so uptight!”

Listen: YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!!!

Go to your conference tomorrow and speak about Terry Richardson! Your voice will be heard because you are influentual! Devote your WHOLE SPEECH to Terry Richardson! Urge everyone to demand that this predator stop getting work from mainstream magazines and corporations like H&M!

Tell your audience and your mentors that you object to the pornification of fashion photography and the abuse of young models! Terry Richardon’s recent actions are an explicit mockery of the complaints about him. He is saying, Look! No one can stop me! But he CAN be stopped.

This is your moment, my dear! Use it!

Blessings and prayers for your courage to effect change,

Christopher Lee Sauve: What a Fucking Cunt™! https://godammit.com/christopher-lee-sauve-what-a-fucking-cunt%e2%84%a2/ https://godammit.com/christopher-lee-sauve-what-a-fucking-cunt%e2%84%a2/#comments Tue, 11 May 2010 07:10:38 +0000 http://www.godammit.com/?p=4964 Continue reading ]]>

Christopher Lee Suave is an artist who recently designed this t-shirt, a “commentary on the Terry Richardson scandal,” according to Fashionista. Lauren Sherman asks Suave, “What made you take on the whole Terry Richardson thing?”

Suave answers: “I was reading all the articles on numerous blogs, and I started talking to people socially at parties, that sort of thing, who it had actually happened. I’m not trying to be insensitive at all. I do this sort of thing, I make art like this because it gets people talking. Whether you’re pro-Terry or not, this whole thing says something about the psyche of our society.”

Hahaha! “I do this sort of thing…” Yep, evidently, you do. Then, you sell the t-shirts for $65.

The Whole Terry Richardson Thing isn’t over, because it’s not an episode on a TV show. It’s real life and it goes on and on and on.

The Cut recently talked to Sleazeball Faux-Hipster and Terry Richardson crony Oliver Zahm, whose date chimed in about The Whole Richardson Thing with:

“I feel like you cant blame anyone for your own actions, and I feel like, you know, I’ve worked with people who I could easily say exploited me, but at the same time, I was willing to be exploited. And I decided to heal from those experiences on my own, and not to make them a public affair.”

You may have to read that quote twice to believe your own eyes.

There are so many cunts in this story, I can’t even keep track of them, but for now I’m sticking with Suave.

Just to make sure we get how outrageous she is, Tamara Mellon, co-founder of has-been shoe company Jimmy Choo, posed nude for loathsome pervert/rapist Terry Richardson.

Correctly deducing that the new line of $600 Jimmy Choo sneakers wasn’t horrific enough to earn her the coveted Cunt of the Week award, Ms. Mellon daringly said of her photo shoot:

I mean, it’s nude but it’s chic. I wonder what they’ll say at the next board meeting.

Poor awful woman. She sued her own mother for $9 million dollars. Why does she keep trying to make us hate her? Why does she have to involve a cat in this nonsense?

All I know is, Tamara Mellon is an overachiever in the cunt department and richly deserves to be Cunt of the Week . Nice work, Tamara!

On the subject of Terry Richardson, here is blogger ‘Gnarlitude Jen’:

“If someone is uncomfortable in any situation, they have the fucking choice to say NO.
Sorry but this is a choice those models made. If he got naked and they weren’t having it, walk the fuck out. Otherwise, don’t complain about him later when you chose to be there. If your agency drops you because you didn’t want to suck him off, well then that’s that. Don’t give me none of this pussy shit. So now everyone reads all these ‘terrible stories and omg he’s such a bad guy’. Has no one seen his photos before? What’d they think was gonna happen? All good clean fun and maybe some prayer circle after?
So if a model gives him a hand job, did he force his dick in their hand? If they’re that hungry for fame that they’re willing to do whatever to get it, including sucking him off and then whining all over about it later then fuck them.”

Dear [Sister],

Thank you for your email.

One of the campaigns at H&M this spring was shot by Terry Richardson. We always have an H&M representative present during our fashion shoots and we have no information that something inappropriate has happened. If these accusations are true though, it is of course unacceptable.

We have no upcoming campaigns with Terry Richardson.

Best regards, H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB

I would like to protest H&M’s use of photographer Terry Richardson in its advertising campaigns. Terry Richardson is known to be a sexual predator who has abused fashion models and sexually harassed them.

Please let me know what you plan to do about this.

Marc Jacobs has revealed to the WSJ: “I’ve worked with Terry and Terry has asked me to do some crazy things. I know that those pictures will exist if I do them. But I’m a big boy and I can say no.” I see. That’s good for Marc, who added that Richardson is “not ill-spirited.” Somehow, I am not reassured.

Elsewhere, a bunch of photographers argue whether Terry Richardson’s conduct is business as usual in the fashion industry. Basically, everyone knows all about Richardson’s behavior, but they can’t agree on its significance. They can’t even agree on whether he’s a hack.

The Village Voice rightly wonders why Richardson has refused all requests for a comment on the story. No one is rushing to defend him, other than his buddy Tom Ford and one model.

You can tell H&M that you don’t feel good about them using Richardson to shoot their ad campaigns. Go here to send an email.
