Marc Jacobs has revealed to the WSJ: “I’ve worked with Terry and Terry has asked me to do some crazy things. I know that those pictures will exist if I do them. But I’m a big boy and I can say no.” I see. That’s good for Marc, who added that Richardson is “not ill-spirited.” Somehow, I am not reassured.
Elsewhere, a bunch of photographers argue whether Terry Richardson’s conduct is business as usual in the fashion industry. Basically, everyone knows all about Richardson’s behavior, but they can’t agree on its significance. They can’t even agree on whether he’s a hack.
The Village Voice rightly wonders why Richardson has refused all requests for a comment on the story. No one is rushing to defend him, other than his buddy Tom Ford and one model.

The problem with Marc Jacobs’ statement is that many young models aren’t all “big girls” who feel they can say no. I’ve emailed H & M. Still not heard back from Chuck though. I pray that Terry Richardson loses everything.
Marc Jacobs is either truly naive or just another massive cunt. Big boys may be able to say no to Richardson, but young girls are a different matter. Get fucking real.

I was so disheartened when I learned he shoots for Rolling Stone, too. And as Moda and Dave C stated. Marc Jacobs can say no because he’s Marc Jacobs. A young, up & coming model likely doesn’t have the nerve or the confidence. He’s a slimy predator.
You know I’m beginning to feel icy indifference to H&M. How about Vincent Gallo and his liberal usage of the phrase “negro”. They had no issue using him in a campaign even though there probably knew that fact. It angered me and when I called them on it and I didn’t so much as illicit a ripple in the pond (nor did I receive any sort of response).

As for Marc Jacobs, adding that Richardson isn’t “ill-spirited” just makes him a fence sitter, and to be honest I’m not sure why he bothered to comment about this at all… I read it something like “Terry Richardson is dirty sex predator, but hey! he’s a great guy!”

Dave C: MJ was a massive cunt 20 something years ago when I knew him so I wouldn’t be surprised to find he still was one.
I’m still reeling over this statement MJ made: “If a girl is underage, maybe the girl’s agent or chaperon should be present on the shoot. That’s the hard part. Who’s to blame or who’s to watch?” I’m sure he knows damn well how agencies work. They assure parents that models are chaperoned and supervised but the reality is that they are only looking out for what they can make off a model (all the while billing the model for everything they’re providing.) If the photographer’s assistants don’t do or say anything, the agency is worried about making a buck off some young girl who may become the “next big thing” (hence mega commissions for them), the AD’s are knowingly sending girls, the advertisers request this style of photographic work, and the photographer is given free reign, then Its crystal clear to me who should be blamed and who should be watched. (Did I leave anyone out? Ha!)
I’m pretty sure Terry Richardson doesn’t give a fuck about any of this.
