Fashion Picks: Shit I Loved From NY

This look from L’Wren Scott is everything I like.   Dress, model, attitude, shoes=perfect.

This dress by Deisel Black Gold would solve my leather itch, at least temporarily.

Oooh, it’s a modern Frida Kahlo from The Row!   Hate the Olsens, love their butch tailoring here.

Frank Tell neo-punk. It might be the hair that won me over but it’s a good look to wear into old ladyhood.

Rachel Comey: It’s the green boots I want, but I’d take the dress too.   Green boots will be the thing, wait and see.

Bibhu Mohapatra‘s elegant ladies with beehives and goth accessories are an aesthetically pleasing fantasy. I could never afford any of this shit but I love the retro sophistication.

OH those green boots!!! Sweet lord! What shoe size do you wear? We could save up and share them!

  2. I agree with you on the emerald green boots. . . i’ve been wanting a pair for a while and i’m sure they will everywhere soon. Also that L’Wren Scott model is your doppelganger.

  3. Ann says:

That leather dress = perfection. And the green boots, my lord! I’d do terrible, awful, illegal things to obtain them. They’re gorgeous.

  4. Cat says:

I loooooove the first look. Yes to everything.

  5. Cricket9 says:

Yes to the “Frida Kahlo” and to Frank Tell. I would love the green boots, but I need them in electric blue!

  6. E says:

Tailored look and neopunk I love you.
    That is all.
    Carry on.

  7. Emily Bleak says:

I will arm wrestle you for that black leather dress. It is absolutely perfect in every detail.

This year surprised me a little, in that I ended up changing my mind about a few designers who previously made me say “meh.” Rachel Comey was great, I’m glad to see that glorious vibrant green getting some attention.

  8. Witch Moma says:

The red/blue # is beautiful & I love menswear. SW, you are on a hot streak.

  9. Jazmin says:

I’d wear that first look so hard. But that jacket and those green boots. DAMN. I want them in my life now.

  10. Ms. Fitz says:

    great selection

  11. Andra says:

    The L’Wren look is divine.
    Nobody needs green boots.

  12. Sandra B says:

Anybody can afford a beehive! Do it up!

  13. I’ll take one of each, please, but if nothing else, the green suede boots. They are lush and I want them.
“Yes” to neo-punk worn into old ladyhood! That’s where I’m headed- well, in a couple of decades anyway.

  14. Andra says:

Apparently I was wrong about green boots.
Can we get up a collection and buy up the world supply and then sell them and make lots of money and all fix our roofs perhaps?

  15. Kimberley says:

    Great choices!
I have not looked at much yet, but I love Jeremy Laing’s collection- I especially long for this dress http://www.style.com/fashionshows/complete/slideshow/F2011RTW-JLAING/#slide=0

  16. WendyB says:

The first is my favorite! I’m very into red and blue together…

  17. Dru says:

YES to Iekeliene Stange and that Frank Tell look (that layer of sheer skirt? I love it)

The Rodarte sisters can sound like idiots sometimes but I really liked their collection this time around.

  18. The first dress drives me wild with desire. Also the ankle-strap heels, messy 60’s hair, and smudged eyeliner…oooof. yes!

  19. Tricia says:

I’m so happy you included Bibhu, I walked into that presentation and was immediately knocked on my ass by those clothes. I don’t go to all the shows, but Bibhu was the highlight.

  20. Perucha says:

Sister, that leather dress is the hottest thing I have seen in quite a while. Actually I need it now. But I don’t even want to think of how much it could cost me. But dreaming is free right?
Love the green/cream dress as well.
    You have GREAT taste.

  21. JK says:

Superb taste for the first one Sis, but I dunno about that third one – reminds me of Charlie Chaplin.

  22. Cricket9 says:

On the second thought – yes to the leather dress; I could start working as a very elegant dominatrix to the “Ottawa elite” – members of Parliament, foreign diplomats, a few generals and, so on. I already have a whip. Heh, heh.

  23. Andra says:

Cricket – I could probably send you a crocodile….. we certainly have enough rain at the moment to send them inland.
How cool would that be? A dominatrix with a crocodile on a leash!! You’ll be the hit of the government.
    I love it.
I’ll take a commission, but just a small one.

  24. candy says:

You have nice taste in clothes! I would wear everything. I am downsizing my wardrobe and I kept stuff for so long that it’s no longer my style anymore such as a long skirt with frills at the hem, I noticed that by looking at my closet I loved lace so much , this says a lot about who I wanted to be. I noticed that I am going through some kind of reassesment of who I am. I have a pair of green boots but they are higher, they are in fake suede and I bought them in 2004 or so, never wore them, it’s by Connie. I think green is a color that is so rare in fashion that you don’t need much when wearing it.

  25. Erika says:

    Pretty !
Except the last one, I hate their hairdo’s.
I wasn’t super excited about anything, way too much fur, but I do like Vena Cava’s clothes. Also really liking the Italian clothes right now. Alberta Ferretti and Moschino especially…ya wish I could afford them. Hoping for some trickle down at the thrift shop.

  26. Nickie Frye says:

The first dress is fabulous. Red & purple are always a winning combo!

  27. Cricket9 says:

Andra, thank you for the offer – but keeping wild animals as pets is not allowed in Canada, and my two cats …not sure how they would take a new roommate. Too bad, I too think I would be a hit! 😉

  28. james says:

Diesel black gold leather dress is divine! i love it. Now I want long black hair.
