I am hopelessly addicted to tumblr.
I tell myself it’s a “better” addiction than others I’ve acquired since I learned to use a computer. It’s better than online shopping and it’s better than twitter. The only problem is that like all addictions, it just creates an insatiable appetite. I tell myself that I’ll stop looking as soon as I find one beautiful image. But then I need to find just one more.
In the course of this endless hunger for images, I have seen more tits than I’ve seen in the last 57 years. There are tits everywhere! Vintage tits, fashion-spread tits, young tits, big tits, sagging tits, naughty tits, innocent tits, no one seems to tire of tits. I’m not offended; I’m just not as interested in tits as most of tumblr is.
Searching google for a photo by Tina Mondotti, I came across the beautiful image above. To my eyes, it is an exquisite expression of tenderness. I posted it on my tumblr but not ONE SINGLE PERSON has reblogged it or even “liked” it!
I’m so disappointed that no one else was moved by this picture. Are tits only good without proximity to babies?
You won’t hear an argument out of me against your Tumblr fascination. (Does this make me an enabler?) I’m just glad you find distraction and peace in your search and discovery of beautiful images.
Your maternal instinct has always been one of the biggest parts of you, and you do love you some babies. Doesn’t surprise me one bit that you love that photo. It is very peaceful and sweet.

Good question about tits with and without babies! In Ontario we can go topless if we are so inclined – it’s legal (not that you will see too many topless women on the street; there was a website with pictures of “tit sightings” in Toronto once upon the time). At the same time, every now and then we have a “scandal and outrage” because a breast-feeding woman was asked, typically by security, to leave some public place or stop breast-feeding. So tits with the baby attached – still offensive to many people. Beats me why.
Here is the link to some “breast-feeding in public” cases in US, Canada and UK. Seems that it’s once again, all about nipples. Everyone has nipples, I’ll never get the fuss.
For me the ear ring somewhat detracts from the tenderness/innocence. Not as bad as the padded bikini tops for 7 year-olds those idiots have begun selling, I suppose. Is the infant here Gypsy or Pakistani? If she was from Brentwood she might be botoxed already..
No idea why there is such a problem when boobs are seen being used as they were intended to be used…

I think it’s lovely and reminds me of a Picasso print I have that is very similar. Thank goodness I was never confronted when I was breastfeeding my daughter, I always thought people who take offence to it are very creepy! Thank you for sparking the sweet memories and giving me a smile when I really need one! I hope you’re able to do the same!

This image is beautiful, but I’m going to be the grinch here and say (as a woman without child), babies/children sorta freak me out. Maybe it is the fact that I don’t come into contact with them at all in my life… I will of course overcome this when my friends all begin to get pregnant and all of a sudden I have an invested interest in these little people. Not long now!
I have to agree with Cami. It is a sweet image, but as someone with absolutely no interest in having children or even holding someone else’s baby for 30 seconds, I just don’t find it appealing. I can only think of it metaphorically as something sucking out my vitality!
As someone without kids, but at an age where every single person is demanding that I have them, I’ve been married forever on top of that, I have to say that image put me off for another year.
Yay Alicia! That made my day. Dexter, think that baby’s Mammy is wearing a sari & choti- which explains the earrings. My mum wanted to do mine when I was a baby so people would know I was a girl- and she told me this of course.

I breastfed both my chirren’s so images of breastfeeding tend to remind me of the aftermath. My once small and perkies were reduced to empty sacks. Anywho, it is a lovely, real image. Breasts being used/abused for their intended purpose. For those of you gals who have no interest in babies and are even averse to the idea, at least you know yourselves well enough to realize this now. I had no idea how ill fit the role of SAHM was for me until I found myself sobbing into the phone begging my husband to “come home and take these babies before I drop them off at the nearest church.” It gets easier though.
Andra, I don’t understand why you said you have to be a mom to understand. I don’t have children and I think this is beautiful, especially nowadays with all the crime and wars etc…this is a rare event. Also in some states in America it became prohibited to breastfeed in public…
I just weaned, and right now almost nothing carries the emotional power that images of nursing mothers do. Consider this loved.
I am currently breastfeeding my third child and love seeing images like this- the communion between mother and child and the time when they seem to be just an extension of your body. Thank you!
I think you have the porn industry to blame for this, not that I would ever support it in any way.
I don’t think I’d like to see breastfeeding in public where I live either, honestly any kind of nudity on the streets of a big city is creepy…and anyway why would a mom want to breastfeed in public ?? Why not keep to the comfort of your own home ?

I love powerful images, in all forms. And I think that the memory of any of my babies’ tiny little hands on me, anywhere, are among the warmest, most powerful memories I possess.
