Christopher Lee Sauve: What a Fucking Cunt™!

Christopher Lee Suave is an artist who recently designed this t-shirt, a “commentary on the Terry Richardson scandal,” according to Fashionista.   Lauren Sherman asks Suave, “What made you take on the whole Terry Richardson thing?”

Suave answers: “I was reading all the articles on numerous blogs, and I started talking to people socially at parties, that sort of thing, who it had actually happened. I’m not trying to be insensitive at all. I do this sort of thing, I make art like this because it gets people talking. Whether you’re pro-Terry or not, this whole thing says something about the psyche of our society.”

Hahaha! “I do this sort of thing…” Yep, evidently, you do. Then, you sell the t-shirts for $65.

The Whole Terry Richardson Thing isn’t over, because it’s not an episode on a TV show. It’s real life and it goes on and on and on.

The Cut recently talked to Sleazeball Faux-Hipster and Terry Richardson crony Oliver Zahm, whose date chimed in about The Whole Richardson Thing with:

“I feel like you cant blame anyone for your own actions, and I feel like, you know, I’ve worked with people who I could easily say exploited me, but at the same time, I was willing to be exploited. And I decided to heal from those experiences on my own, and not to make them a public affair.”

You may have to read that quote twice to believe your own eyes.

There are so many cunts in this story, I can’t even keep track of them, but for now I’m sticking with Suave.

    Sister Wolf?

I’ve read the quote so many times now that I’m almost as confused as I ever was when George W. or Sarah Palin said anything.

Being the wordsmith/sleuth you certainly are – is there anyway you might render it into “hillbilly?”

  2. XuXu says:

    It is!
    A Festival!
    Of Cunt-Dom!!!!

    …..could it be that
there is a large soul of Cunt that gets
split up into lots of littler souls
that then get birthed into the likes
    of Terry Richardson and FuckHead
    Suave?????????????????????????????????

When will the Soul of Cunthood
    Run
    the Fuck OUT????

    When is enough Cunts enough???

I just get more and more tired.
    more and more tired.

    really.

  3. Helen says:

Somebody should shut these men up because they obviously have no fucking clue what they are talking about. Olivier Zahm’s date can talk about giving herself up for exploitation all she wants and it won’t change a thing. Or do these middle-aged hipsters really believe that their status brings them the absolute right to exploit young, vulnerable girls?
What does mr Zahm have to say about this? “I can’t understand how people can be so mean”. Wow! He also says: “Nothing is porn about his photography. Nothing is trash about his photography.” – I beg to differ, because I once bought Purple and there was an extra “book”/ leaflet in it, shot by Richardson, of a porn studio and the making of a porn movie and nothing but crude porn despite it being behind-the-scenes. Or is that automatically “art” because it’s in Purple?
    Such idiocity.

PS. Christopher Lee Suavé : “I make art” – really?

  4. What a cunt! Mind you he’s only a $65 cunt, bit cheap considering he goes to those you know parties.
The date quote was unbelievable my jaw hit the floor – how did she heal herself with cocaine?

Yep society says no thanks to Terry on the basis of his belief he has the right to touch any part of any women he works with in anyway oh yes and also photograph this in a crazy kind of documentary way to show the world what a heck of a guy he is.

  5. arline says:

! that is not art that he does

2 yes he is a cunt indeed!

3 It must have been hard to select this “cunt of the week”

  6. monk says:

Sister Wolf, u rock, i love reading all your articles!

  7. Nadia says:

I just read this whole post with my jaw pretty much on the floor. Are these people for fucking real? I don’t understand how this is all being made out to be a trendy piece of pop culture. It makes me wonder, if Christopher Lee Suavé’s mother/sister/wife/girlfriend was involved, how would he feel about some disgusting prick profiting $30+ a pop off their misfortune printed on a tshirt that other lame hipsters would wear to appear “controversial” and “bad-ass”.

What is also beyond me is how people KEEP bringing up the argument the girls and women who felt uncomfortable should have just left. I am pretty sure that the minute an act has been committed AT WORK (which is where they all were) that makes you uncomfortable enough to the point where it threatens your position being there and makes you want to leave your job, then that is the exact moment when sexual harassment has occurred. It kind of discredits the whole argument of “well they could have just walked out the door” when you have already been harassed.

  8. annemarie says:

since when is some cunt who makes a t-shirt with a stupid punchline allowed to call himself an ARTIST??

  9. Ann says:

Christopher Lee Suavé is many things. An artist is not one of them. He is a profiteer, he is certainly a cunt, but he is NOT an artist. And Oliver Zahm’s date, Paz de la Heurta, isn’t qualified to comment on anything, being that her only claim to fame is having dated Scott Weiland for a handful of years. Ugh. The pretention and douchebaggery is staggering.

  10. “The pretention and douchebaggery is staggering” – my thoughts exactly. They are cowards to stick up for hipster scumbags.

  11. Okay, sure. If you willingly allowed yourself to be exploited, I guess it’s good to acknowledge that. But does that make the actions of the person who exploited you one iota less repulsive?

Uh, no. No it doesn’t. Because they are just as responsible for their actions as anyone else.

By the way, I like to retort to people as if they are actually going to read what I wrote. 😛

  12. Jenni says:

Um, these guys are almost even worse than Richardson himself.

Turning a blind eye when someone ‘exploits’ you-whatever the fuck that means in hipster world- can lead to someone else being exploited. Just because you were ‘willing to be exploited’ doesn’t mean that everyone it happens to does.

Sweet Jesus, these people say more about the ‘psyche of our society’ more than a banal t shirt. Which is definitely not art.

  13. Dru says:

I don’t know whether to laugh at Paz or feel bad for her. Olivier Zahm sounds like a vile sleazebag.

Did you catch the bit in that interview where he says he expects his ‘girlfriend in Paris’ to leave meetings and call him back/sext back if he calls/sexts her? ‘Love is more important than work’- as if. Love would be more important than work if there were no rent/bills to pay, and if it were actually love, as opposed to these douchebags thinking they’re entitled to feel up/have sex with every attractive young woman in sight.

  14. Helen says:

I agree with Nadia – who is anyone uninvolved to say that these girls should have walked out? Reminds me of the christian girls in college who were of the opinion that it’s a woman’s own fault she gets raped if she’s alone during the night and wearing a short skirt.

I remember reading this last year:
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2009/jun/07/sara-ziff-teen-modelling-fashion
It disturbed me a lot and my friend was already then sure that one of the photographers mentioned in the text (one who got naked while doing a casting while an assistant told the young model to twist his dick) was Terry Richardson. Let me quote some parts:

“A 16-year-old model is on a photo shoot in Paris. She has very little experience of modelling and is unaccompanied by her agency or parents. She leaves the studio to go to the bathroom and meets the photographer – “a very, very famous photographer, probably one of the world’s top names”, according to Ziff – in the hallway. He starts fiddling with her clothes. “But you’re used to this,” says Ziff. “People touch you all the time. Your collar, or your breasts. It’s not strange to be handled like that.” Then suddenly he puts his hands between her legs and sexually assaults her. “She has no experience of boys, she hasn’t even been kissed,” says Ziff. “She was so shocked she just stood there and didn’t say anything. He just looked at her and walked away and they did the rest of the shoot. And she never told anyone.””

“It is an inherently unbalanced and hierarchical relationship when you pair a 15-year-old girl with a 45-year-old man who is trying to create a sexualised image. You are asking for trouble.”

“Ziff tells the story of a 16-year-old model who complained when a 45-year-old photographer made a pass at her. “Her agency said she should have slept with him. Imagine being an eastern European model from Latvia,” says Ole, “who can barely speak English and is supporting a family back home. Imagine how compromised they are.””

I wonder what those blaming the girls would answer when presented with those quotes.

  15. Joy D. says:

The last quote is disheartening because that means the idea that exploitation and harassment is okay and the idea that it is okay is ingrained in this group of people. It is very sad.

As for this Suave guy. If he was just doing it as art why profit from it? Because money is the main goal.

  16. Dru says:

Nadia- I remember that film, very well. It got a bit lost in all the flash and hype surrounding The September Issue, but I remember thinking the photographer Sena Cech (the model in the casting) was talking about was probably Richardson. I should probably see if it’s out on DVD…

The nastiest part of all this, apart from the incidents themselves, are people like Zahm etc who justify it or pretend it doesn’t happen. Hipsterism or ‘cool’dom is apparently not at all compatible with basic human rights like having a safe workplace where your rights are respected and you will not (if female) be assaulted.

  17. Bessie the Buddha cow says:

Christopher Lee Suavé is a cunt! Anyone who profits from someone’s pain and misery, any type of exploitation, sexual harassment, or even desperation is a fucking cunt! To me there’s no difference between Christopher Lee Suavé and Terry Richardson. As for the modeling agencies who prompt young girls to sleep with the photographers, they are cunts too! Even if they don’t promote this behavior, they are culpable just by sending 15 and 16 year olds ALONE to do photo shoots with known perv photographers.
    You go SW!
P.S. the Buddha cow says Suave & Richardson will be reincarnated as those female insects that get stabbed in the abdomen by sharp penises so that reproduction can occur.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traumatic_insemination

  18. HelOnWheels says:

SW, you need a special category of COW: Terry’s Cunt.

  19. Vee says:

“I make art like this because it gets people talking. Whether you’re pro-Terry or not, this whole thing says something about the psyche of our society.”

PHHEWWW. Does he ever feel faint from having to whiff the fumes of his bullshit all day?

Underage girls are being molested, and “this whole thing” is the best phrase he can come up with to describe the scenario? And how many times have I heard “because it gets people talking” as the shitty excuse for some horrible, tasteless crap being marketed? Don’t even get me started on “the psyche of our society.”

This shitbag needs to be curb-stomped. Plain and simple.

  20. Alicia says:

    “…who it had actually happened.”

I’m still trying to get my head around this one.

  21. Cricket9 says:

I was reading this while eating dinner; not a good idea. The cunts are so full of themselves and their fucking so-called art (they wouldn’t know art if it bits them in the ass!) that it’s utterly disgusting. I wonder if there are any normal, decent people left in the industry. A few years ago there was a big scandal about modeling agency owner and his buddies sleeping with under-age girls and plying them with alcohol and drugs. Nothing changed since, it seems.
I understand why books by Stieg Larsson, about a girl who was horribly abused, but got back at the abusers with a vengeance, became such bestsellers.

  22. Dave C says:

(Sigh…) I was ready to nominate Nick Clegg as Cunt of the Week for selling my country out to sneering toffs, but this has topped it. The depressing thing is that Mr Sauvé regurgitates the same kind of shit I hear from would-be hipsters even in my own city. Just five minutes alone with this idiot and his wretched girlfriend is all I ask. Not to beat them into submission, but to break their hearts with the reality of what they exploit/promote. If I had any faith in humanity or divinity I would have lost it after reading this post. Burn in hell you fuckers.

  23. Isabel says:

Eww, who is this Olivier Zahm asshole? Really. Not. Impressed.

P.S. -Thanks for the awesome comment on my blog. I have to say, as a “fashion blogger” I am very surprised and flattered that I am not your ‘Cunt of the Week’ since I am well aware of your disdain for ‘my kind’.

  24. Aja says:

    Disappointing.

  25. Dru says:

^Cricket9: I’d LOVE to see what would happen if someone sicced a Salander on Richardson/Zahm and their ilk.

(come to think of it, well-told stories about abused women getting revenge, or about strong women generally, are awesome and hence deservedly popular- see: Beatrix Kiddo, Buffy Summers, Pam Grier in most of her 70s movies)

  26. dust says:

    Ha, ha, art!
Sad old git of a cunt…

  27. DaveC – I second your nomination!

  28. TheShoeGirl says:

When I was like 13 or 14 I wasn’t allowed to watch Married with Children. My mom said it was “vulgar”. Can you imagine?

Poor fucking kids these days. They need someone to stick up for them.

  29. Suspended says:

    “because it gets people talking”

Weren’t they talking already? Surely it was “people talking” that ‘inspired’ that shit shirt, not the other way around? He certainly didn’t have the balls to produce it when Richardson’s behaviour was merely backstage gossip.

Trivialising such matters should come with the grand penalty of being ‘touched by Terry.’ Anything for a few press line, bunch of self promoting, idiotic whores.

  30. Joy D. says:

Isabella- Oliver Zahm is a photographer and fashion editor (Purple Magazine).

  31. HelOnWheels says:

@Joy D – That’s a nice way of saying that he’s a pornographer. Not that there’s anything wrong with porongraphy. But what Zahm puts out in Purple is NOT “fashion”.

  32. Margot says:

Wow…Profound! There is nothing better than a self proclaimed “ARTIST”… The hipster clan love to throw that title behind their made up artist names. UGH! I mean, look at this guys ART?

    http://bit.ly/axz0jN

U have to be kidding me! Wannabe “urban” (another HATE word), gritty, shitty graffiti! The other guys mentioned here also sounds like really respectable, and intelligent individuals…..It only takes a huge ego, and a self righteous sense of entitlement, to get your face in the press, and into vapid parties this day….

  33. Margot says:

Oh, and look at his website, and his use of CAPITALS, just in case someone should miss his VERY important TITLE, of AAAAARRRRT DIRECTOR!

    http://www.chrissauve.com/

    ugh, again.

  34. his name alone is cuntworthy.

  35. uggs store says:

This one is really great. Just found your blog through another blog. What a great project! I love toys, I love photographs — you have just made my day! Thank you! ~Lisa~I’m not very good at English but I hope you understand me 😉
