Fritzl Trial: Quote of the Day

Nutcase Joseph Fritzl is finally on trial for rape, incest, murder and enslavement, but   his lawyer insists that Fritzl is no monster.

Lawyer Rudolph Mayer insists that his client was only trying to create a second family when he locked up his daughter in a dungeon for 24 years. The essence of Mayer’s No Monster defense is this:

“If you only lock up your daughter to have sex with her, you’re not going to have any children, you’re not going to get schoolbooks (for them) or a Christmas tree.”

this makes me so mad! it is simply disgusting! and what’s even more disgusting: fritzl might be released after some 6 years or so because of some weird austrian laws, dailymail.co.uk reported.

  2. His lawyer’s comments were so ridiculous as to defy belief. I understand the right to a comprehensive defense, but that reasoning is insane.
Good news: the BBC reported this morning that Fritzl surprised his lawyer and changed his plea to guilty on all counts, including murder of the baby, after watching his daughter’s testimony. Hard to believe that a monster like this could have possessed any conscience at all.

  3. Sal says:

Fifteen kinds of crazy. Yech. Gives me the fantods just thinking about this trial.

  4. Deni says:

And where was the mother in all this? And the other children that were allowed to live upstairs (not the ones that had to remain downstairs). I don’t know the whole story, but I just can’t believe that NO ONE knew what was going on (mother, sibllings, children, neighbors, aunts, uncles)??? Horrific and unbelievable!

  5. TobiLynne says:

I’m with Deni. How could NO ONE have known this was going on?

  6. JK says:

“Hard to believe that a monster like this could have possessed any conscience at all.”

He doesn’t. He simply is able to recognize handwriting when he sees it on the wall.

And what Mum doesn’t keep the marmalade in the cellar alongside the wine? She knew. I suspect the plea was changed when this fruitloop recognized that others would be charged if he (the fruitloop) didn’t cop to being same.

A dead child in a cellar dungeon it seems to me, would raise enough of a stink that any Mum would notice.

My own could smell alcohol from a mile away. Probably still can.

  7. K-Line says:

I know, isn’t that argument unbelievable. This whole story fills me with horror. I’m philosophically against the death penalty, but this guy does not deserve to live.

  8. Winter Bird says:

Jesus come get me now! Is that the four horsemen of the apocalypse I see? What is wrong with people???!! Dude looks like Boris Karloff. He should be strung up.

  9. drollgirl says:

what a total fucking lunatic. it is mind boggling what that man did. just awful.

  10. Sister Wolf says:

Stella Mayfair -He won’t get out, don’t worry.

    Iheartfashion – I don’t believe he has a conscience.

    Sal -Yep.

    Deni – Mind-boggling.

Tobi Lynne – I believe the wife knew…I am convinced.

JK -Too right. I think the wife knew but just wanted him to leave her alone, sexually and otherwise. She is guilty, even if he abused her as well. Mothers need to protect their children, period.

K-Line – He should be stoned to death. It would be good for Austria and for me personally.

Winter Bird – You should see the theatrics outside the court building! People are flipping out…as they should.

drollgirl -It is. It’s hard to comprehend. The poor jurors.

  11. Suebob says:

I saw a documentary on a serial killer. They asked him about his crimes and he said “Oh,yeah, I killed 8 nurses but compared to some of these guys, that’s nothing!”

  12. Imelda Matt says:

Am I not meant to understand that? I’ve reread it like 100 times and I don’t understand.

  13. Sister Wolf says:

    Suebob – Fuck.

Imelda Matt – No no, don’t try to understand.

  14. dewayne says:

his lawyer should probably receive the same sentence for trying to defend him. that quote defies all logic.

    even crazy-people logic.

  15. hammiesays says:

lock him up butnot in solitary or the protective custody for sex criminals. Just let him mix it up with bank robbers and gangsters who miss their wives and children. You won’t need a death penalty then.
    xx

    She knew.
