Send Messages After You’re Dead!

Deathswitch.com offers you a way to send email after you’re dead, and I for one like its suggestion to use this service to “have the last word in an argument.” I don’t really know if this website is a joke or not, but it’s kind of cool, in a sickening sort of way.

Less sickening, but also less cool, is this website all about words,  created by  a  Brit who is obviously a complete nutcase to be THIS obsessed with language. Still, there’s plenty of obscure information here. For example, I learned that the reason I can’t find out the origins of the phrase “Bob’s your uncle” is because no one knows. Thanks, Michael Quinion, for doing the legwork!

i don’t know i kind of like this idea. i would prepare various phrases that i think would be appropriate to send to my kids through out their life based on my experiences. i would definitely like to have the last word to those people who are glad i’m gone. there are some people who don’t know me now but i could definitely communicate w/ after i’m gone. i mean paul mccartney should know that i existed even if he doesn’t know it now. i think a message from a dead fan would get through. if i could anticipate future inventions i could create a message that would only go out if that invention happened. that would be really scary. so much “i told you so” and who knows, maybe i’ll get to enjoy the joke from somewhere else?

I like your take on this, Jane. Having the last word is important, god knows. I have already given my family elaborate funeral instructions but I don’t really trust them to follow through. Maybe a threat from the Afterlife would help.
