Now I’m Mad.

MAC RiRi Woo

I just found out that MAC produced this beautiful red lipstick without telling me, and it sold out in three hours. This is a fucking outrage. I blame everybody.

It was part of MAC’s collaboration with Rihanna, whose lipstick is one of the few good things abut her, in my opinion. I also like her subtle pink ‘THUG LIFE’ knuckles tattoo.

Anyway, I’m mad but I will go on living because MAC is bringing back “RiRi Woo” in October, and it will look like this:

Here is the excitingest part – it looks almost exactly like my all-time favorite matte red, Ruby Woo, but IT’S STILL DIFFERENT! Look:  Riri Woo on the left, Ruby Woo on the right.

Godammit!!!! Right??

If I don’t get this lipstick, there will be consequences.

I was one of the throng of people trying to order on line the first day these were offered….it took a L O N G time and then I wasn’t really sure if the order went through. I have the Riri Woo and it’s great alone or mixed with other shades. I do that more than not to get a color that’s all mine. Glad to here they are bringing it back, seems like they’d do the same with any others that sold out as fast.

FUCKING LOVE that we go from ‘A Terrible Story – Weigh In’ to this.

  3. Andrea says:

I have stockpiled it & I can send you a riri woo. It is bluer than ruby woo. Did you check the Mac website? Let me know if you want it.

  4. Andra says:

Those red lipsticks look pretty much the same to me but I will bow to your superior knowledge of the red lipstick industry.
Don’t let anyone invent a red lipstick without informing you first and make sure you are the head sampler.
    Demand money too!

bluer than ruby woo? I like this sound of this…

  6. Ah, this brings back unpleasant flashbacks of my own lipstick debacle – the discontinuation of Cle de Peu’s #16 lip colour in 2011. Shocking business.

  7. Kellie says:

You need to friend the Temptalia blog, on facebook. She posts the minute the stuff goes live on the MAC site.
If you get in on it the night before, you always score. After the east coast people get up and at the site the next morning, SOLD OUT.
    Always

LOVE the Ruby Woo! I wish I could wear red. I wore it all the time – Revlon’s Cadillac Red, my FAVORITE. Then I got old. My lips thinned. And if I wear red lipstick it makes me look like I have Frankenstein’s lips.

  9. Jaimi says:

I am going to ‘need’ this even on a very limited income. It’s a really great color.

P.S. I still believe anyone can wear red lipstick as long as they find a shade they like and feel comfortable wearing. That’s it!

Your post distilled for me the reason I love this blog: it chronicles the torments of motherhood and its distractions. Now let’s put that fucking lipstick on Mary in a Pietà.

  11. Marky says:

If there’s anywhere in New York where I can get it for you, let me know. I’m always happy to get lipstick for you.

  12. Sister Wolf says:

Gretchen – I like the idea of mixing! I might be too lazy, though.

Sam – I can’t linger too long on the Horrible, it’s just my survival instinct that turns my mind toward lipstick.

Andrea – How generous of you! I found one!!!!!!

Andra – I should be the head sampler, why isn’t this recognized by the cosmetics industry?

    ali – You need it.

Madame Restora – How awful! This gives me a hot flash.

    Kellie – Good to know.

Debbie – I cannot accept this. I feel that all lips should be red.

Jaimi – You DO need this. It is sooooooooo wonderful.

thriftstore lawyer – Hahahahahaha, thank you, I try to cover the Full Gamut.

Marky – You are the best of the best. I got one. It was a close call and I can’t even imagine living without this particular red.

MAC suck, they test on animals! 🙁
