The Dress

Let’s all admit it: We want this dress from Alice by Alice Temperley.

If only I could curate it! Shit.

  1. skye says:

    Why are her shoes untied?

  2. David Duff says:

Nah! Hoops don’t do it for me but I wouldn’t mind the boots, handy for when I cut the grass in the churchyard next door.

Skye, she dare not bend over and tie her boots lest her hair gets entangled with the laces and she has to spend the rest of the day scuttling around like a crab!

  3. Faux Fuchsia says:

Where does one source this Messy looking Expensive High End Designer Product?

I hate and loathe the Dickens-era chimney sweep boots.

Was someone paid a wage to style this? If so the World Has Gone Mad and I am Weeping for the Future. Where’s Make Do Style when you need her????

  4. Cheraya says:

ooh I quite like this. I have very similar shoes but I usually do up the laces to avoid accidents,
Bet it’ll be an outrageous amount of money.

  5. boops says:

are those two knitting needles behind her left leg? i guess it’s good to have a hobby….

  6. Dru says:

Not totally sold on the dress (would like it better if it were looser, or a top) but I see your point.

  7. Sheri says:

    is that a man?

  8. Ann says:

There are not words for how shiteous this dress would look like on me. I have hips, plus I have this weird tendency of tying my shoes. Lose/lose. Also, do you think she knows that her calves are the same size as her thighs?

  9. It is unfortunate that the model reminds me of a tranny client I had to shop for once! I love the stripe dress and the styling is done this way as it is aimed at a younger crowd as it is a diffusion – but hey who are they kidding it is cheaper stuff and all ages will buy. I’m bored of this style of styling but what can you do.

  10. Jill says:

She looks like one of the “girls” on RuPaul’s Drag Race!

  11. Lisa says:

love it – nautical but nice.

  12. WendyB says:

If you win the lottery, you need to curate some WendyB jewelry first. I’ll make you a gigantic spider if you want!

  13. dust says:

There is no need to lust over this dress, every single shop has one such in spring collections, you can choose from Made in China (Topshop), Made in Cambodia (H&M), Made in Turkey (Zara), Made in Pakistan (River Island), only to mention a couple. The dress itself is cute, I’m a huge curator of stripes, but not worth the designer fee.

  14. Stella Mayfair says:

WendyB, I want some of your fabulous jewelry, too! I’m obsessed with that Victorian buckle ring you designed. A woman can dream…

  15. Mr Mann says:

No, I think if we were truthful about it, we would admit that what we really want is to be the woman in that dress. Short of that we would settle for a long weekend with the woman in that dress. But given enough time alone with the woman in that dress we might decide that the dress is all we could put up with… and then we would have to be honest with ourselves… do we really want to be seen in this dress in public?

  16. Mia says:

That model is DISGUSTINGLY skinny. But maybe that’s why the stripes are fine on her…if me, with my hourglass J. Lo-ish body wore this thing, people around could go blind. 😀

  17. Sister Wolf says:

Skye -Effortlessly Chic = cannot make an effort.

David – I would like to see you in the boots AND the dress.

Faux Fuchsia – I think Selfridges, but you guys are ruining it for me, waaah!

Cheraya – At least you like it.

boops – I worried about the knitting needles but I still wanted the fucking dress.

    Dru – Thank god.

    Sheri – Hahahahahahahahahaha!

Ann – The calves are verging on BIGGER. Wow.

Make Do – YEs, I see the Tranny. Maybe it’s Lou Doillon (sp)?

Jill – God I love RuPaul.

Lisa – YES, but they have ruined it for me now.

WendyB- Okay, I want diamond safety pins first though.

dust – THE DRESS IS DEAD TO ME NOW.

Stella Mayfair – A woman MUST dream.

    Mr Mann – Sobering thoughts.

Mia – If you have a J-Lo-ish body you can wear a see-through catsuit, or just go naked! You are blessed.

  18. Winter Bird says:

It’s an epileptic fit waiting to happen.

  19. GLC says:

Sister Wolf, I’m so happy you didn’t mention the words “nautical” and “trend” . After being conditioned by fashion magazines to see those words together when looking at blue and white striped things, I was expecting it and braced myself for it but you never did it. Thank you.

Winter Bird – Do jumping jacks; cause seizures. Pretty much my criteria for an outfit.

  20. Sister Wolf says:

    Winter Bird – LOOK AWAY!

GLC – I nearly had a seizure reading the words “nautical” and “trend.”

  21. kate says:

Go to Beverly Hills Thrift store
cut up plus size “nauti-inspired” yacht tunic on diagonal along neckline
    put said thing on
let fall off shoulders to one side, fold until fabulously awkward
belt with some cheap black belt hanging around
use extra strips from neckline as drawstrings to pointlessly hang from back of belt
put on eyeliner with your pinkie

  22. kate says:

oh, and as it isn’t in the above directions, don’t pay for the tunic at the thrift store. tell them you’re reviving it for no charge.

ever been in a comp programming class and had a goony teacher make you list steps to making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to then try making a sandwich live as per your directions…stabbing the lid when “open lid” is not included, smearing peanut butter on his hand when “on bread” is not included, etc. these directions above should be followed literally. just because.

  23. Cricket9 says:

Yep, I could source this dress – may get get “Made in Turkey” one. I already have a well-curated collection of chimney sweep boots, and knitting needles.

  24. i want it.
but alice temperley can suckit if she thinks i will spend that much on it.

  25. TheShoeGirl says:

Maybe you’ll just “find” one or “procure” it.

  26. cker says:

Steven Tyler in drag. Nothing more to say.

  27. Alicia says:

Maybe if Goony Bird had it on…

    I like the shoes though!

  28. Jules says:

that model makes me want to throw up.

  29. Sister Wolf says:

    Kate – Will do!

Cricket9 – Yeah, I have curated a shitload of those boots, too.

my favorite – Well, thanks for backing me up on wanting it though.

The SHoeGirl – Oooh, like on eBay?

    cker – HAHAHAHAHHAHA!

Alicia – Hahahahahahaha! Goony Bird would definitely ruin it for me, if you guys hadn’t already done such a good job of it.

Jules – God, jesus, drink some ginger ale!

  30. dana says:

I’d look mighty fine in that with my big ol bra hanging out of it.

  31. Hortensia says:

*I* like it, SW! If Anorexic Steven Tyler can’t ruin it for me, nothing can.

  32. erika says:

I like the shoes, the dress is just whatever. I think we are all in some striped frenzy..something about wanting to be sailors. I made a striped outfit, inspired by Vivienne Westwood, that beats that for miles.

  33. mariya says:

on martin and osa’s site you’ll see a “curated closet” slogan, trademarked, no less. influenced by sea of hoes? i’m appalled.

  34. Jules says:

Tell me about it! Too bad I hate ginger. So ginger ale is naturally out.
