Irregular Choice or Unspeakable Horror?

I’m aware that the shoe brand Irregular Choice has its fans but surely this specimen is unforgivable.   Take a moment to ponder the insults going on here. For some reason, the open toe strikes me as the last straw.

I’m sad that the site selling this shoe doesn’t engage in descriptive language.   I can’t begin to imagine what anyone could say.   “Rats chewed the heel off this plucky little oxford and we patched the front with Grandma’s curtains!”

I can’t do it. Is anyone up to the challenge?

    Fubar.
    That’s it; just, fubar.

  2. Stuti says:

Attempted yet failed execution of neo-Mughal architecture as a heel, floral cap-toe, oh and plenty of discomfort. Happy whining!

  3. Barf! It looks like ketchup should be squirting out of it.

  4. Iron Chic says:

Why must our footwear be so complicated now?
    Shoes for blind people.

  5. Juri says:

Amazing! How did they attach the Lego blocks to the shoe???

  6. The factory supervisor received a stiff warning after mixing up the design pattern for a supple flat pump with a modernist tea pot.

  7. Suspended says:

    That shoe looks like quality…*smirk.

Please tell me that isn’t an orange crushed velour lining?

  8. WendyB says:

    It’s a birth defect.

  9. Vee says:

How did they manage to find so many shades of red that somehow do not match at all? Congealed blood, barn door, rotting tomato, oxidized orange peel…

It reminds me of one of those optical illusion “Which color is darker?” questions. In this case the answer would be: C) They are all unspeakably hideous.

  10. Jenny Dunville says:

All unsold stock can go to PetSmart to be marketed as dog chew toys.

  11. deja pseu says:

“Ouch! It hurts when I step on my toddler’s Legos!”

  12. Faux Fuchsia says:

Oh Dear God in Heaven, has the World of Shoe Design gone Stark Raving Mad?

  13. Alicia says:

It DOES, Natalie!!! I could see ketchup coming out of that.

  14. Dru says:

I’ve actually liked the look of Irregular Choice shoes in the past..they lost the plot with this one, ugh.

  15. Cricket9 says:

Heehee Bessie, I’m with you on these!

  16. Ann says:

I feel like this shoe is actually a joke, or an experiment, and the designers are laughing at whoever is buying and wearing them.

  17. kate says:

the heel could be a lot of fun if the rest of the shoe matched it– i’m thinking a mid-century modern architecture play in Eames primary tones. Or maybe Memphis Style architecture of the 80s. But this…this is just suburban horror kitsch beyond anything Tim Burton could cough up.

  18. Mary says:

I find the shoe funny. Nothing more, nothing less.

  19. TheShoeGirl says:

This shoe sucks. Funny though, I bought 2 pairs of shoes from the crazy store the other day while I was in NY. They are less hideous, I assure you.

  20. ali says:

it kinda looks like a barbie shoe and a lego glued together. eh…whatever…I only like heels you can kick people with anyway. This rules out all peep toes.

  21. Aja says:

(Whispers) I like them. Granted, get rid of the weird toe fabric and the laces. But yeah, with a few changes I would rock the hell out of these.

  22. Braindance says:

Open toe shoes offend me in general, this has taken it to the next level.
Be a sandle or be a shoe, why open toe?
I have seen so many shoes that could have been great if there had been no bloody toe slit.
I do like the heel on this piece of crap though

  23. Elaine says:

In my opinion, the worst shoes come straight out of the heads of designers for 80%20.
Seriously. Look up the Molly shoe.
God awful, unflattering and without a single redeeming factor. I saw a girl on the bus wearing them and thought it was a garbage bag wrapped around her ankle with a belt.

On a different note, I have another blog that should be up for discussion.

This is from one of her posts “I must stop myself from wearing Prada head to toe..what a dork!”

  24. Cricket9 says:

Interesting. I have no problem stopping myself from wearing Prada at all – just one look at the price tag is totally sufficient. I’m impressed by my self-control!

  25. Pudfish says:

This worries me a lot, particularly because to my short sighted eyes, the floral bit looks like someone’s stockinged foot poking out of the shoe, but the rest of their foot, in fact the rest of their body is gone…..eaten clean away by the killer shoe…which used to be white….

  26. aine says:

Oh joy I love both modernist architecture and barndancing, finally some designers who understand me!

  27. Dru says:

Elaine- I think the term she’s looking for isn’t “dork”, it’s probably “label junkie”.

  28. Audi says:

“Rats chewed the heel off this plucky little oxford and we patched the front with Grandma’s curtains!”

I’m still laughing about this, and I might actually be more inclined to buy a shoe for which the manufacturer had the gumption to provide such an accurate description, no matter how hideous the product. That said, I wish we could get past the open toe trend, already. Does no one else notice that they’re almost always horribly uncomfortable? Surely I can’t be the only one!

  29. Whats happening, I discovered this website by mistake when I was going via Bing following that I arrived to your web site. I require to say your internet site is interesting I truly like your theme! Today I don’t have the free time at the existing moment to fully appear through your sitebut I have bookmarked it. I will be back again in a day or 2 . Many thanks for a good website.

  30. We have just started to use an electric vehicle on some farming land, which is 95% made of recyclable product – this was the first of many to come, I think.

  31. WTH says:

Clearly you know nothing of desing. Banner on your site can tell it all on its own. Larn to respect creativity and just enjoy the shape it tkes without saying it’s insulting. It just akes you soun pathetic and ignorant, not to say narrow minded, but then again that last IS true, so no biggie on that one.

  32. WTH says:

hahaha and this post annoyed me so much I didn’t even type right lol Sorry about that haha
Anyway… I maintain my point. Stop being so narrow minded and learn to accept the possibilities. A weird heel isn’t an insult. I don’t even understand how that’s possible. And peep toe thing… come on!! How many peep toe shoes have you seen!! (or maybe you just haven’t, in which case I sugest you hit the mall and get some shoes. or go to some random underground store, I don’t care, just watch and learn. Creativity is expressed in many different ways!)
